Telecom Italia SpA and Hutchison Whampoa Ltd  unit 3 Italia have signed an agreement to share at least 2,000 mobile radio sites, the companies said in joint statement on Friday.

The deal includes sharing passive infrastructures such as poles, cables, electricity supply and air conditioning systems as well as other civil infrastructure. While maintaining the ownership of its own infrastructure, each operator will host the radio mobile stations of the partner with the goal of optimizing network coverage on a national level.

The three-year agreement is for sharing access to existing sites and those yet to be built, according to the statement. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed and neither company was available for comment.
